Get Geopublisher and/or AtlasStyler

There are three different ways to install Geopublisher and/or AtlasStyler on your computer: JavaWebStart, Linux Repository, or downloading a ZIP file. Choose the one that is most convenient for you. Manuals can be downloaded here.

To run Geopublisher you need at least a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 6 installed. Here you can find installation hints for Java. 

JavaWebStart

Advantages: Very simple installation and automatic updates.

Limitations: If you use JavaWebStart for installation you need to have a recent Sun Java 1.6 plugin installed in your browser.

Instructions: To install Geopublisher via JavaWebStart just click on one of the green start-buttons. After the first start a desktop icon and menu entry will be generated.

ZIP Download

Advantages: Allows you to take the installation package with you on a CD, etc.

Limitations: Not automatic updates.

Instructions
  1. Download one of the ZIP files from the table below.
  2. Uncompress the ZIP file. In Windows we recommend the folder C:\Programme, using Linux it could be /home/user/bin. The ZIP file contains a subfolder called Geopublishing.
  3. Open the Geopublishing-folder and double-click start_AtlasStyler.bat or start_Geopublisher.bat. For Linux there are corresponding start_AtlasStyler.sh and start_Geopublisher.sh scripts.

Debian/Ubuntu Repository

Advantages: Automatic updates and crypographic archive validation.

Limitations: Only for Debian/Ubuntu. After a system upgrade to a newer version of Linux you have to repeat the installation.

Instructions:
The following three commands should be run in a Terminal (Applications → Accessories → Terminal):
  1. Add the repository to the respository list:
    sudo apt-get install -y lsb-release ; sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/geopublishing.list http://www.geopublishing.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list
  2. Download an add the maintainers' signing key:
    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 7450D04751B576FD
    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys B725097B3ACC3965
    
  3. Install stable application:
    sudo apt-get -y update ; sudo apt-get install geopublisher atlasstyler geopublishing-doc
    
  4. OR: Install latest testing version of the applicationn:
    sudo apt-get -y update ; sudo apt-get install geopublisher-testing atlasstyler-testing geopublishing-doc-testing

You can now start Geopublisher and AtlasStyler from the menu at Applications → Education.
